Eldon B Palmateer
Eldon Bruce Palmateer, 97, formerly of Port Huron and Winter Haven, Florida, died Monday, June 5, 2017.
He was born March 25, 1920 in Greenwood Township to the late Elmer and Jennie Palmateer. He married Ora Perry on June 15, 1940 in Croswell. She died July 24, 2000. He married Mildred Larsen Bruce on May 7, 2005 in Brighton.
Mr. Palmateer worked for Mueller Brass Company for 20 years, then founded Palmateer Insurance Agency and worked as an agent for over 30 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Insurance Association and Colonial Woods Missionary Church, where he served on the church board and was head usher for 30 years. He enjoyed athletics, especially watching his sons and grandchildren play. He never missed a game, home or away. He also enjoyed golfing and bowling.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred; a son, David (Carlene) Palmateer of Bay City; five grandchildren, Scott Palmateer, Steven (Katherine) Palmateer, Kevin (Wendy) Palmateer, Joshua (Amanda) Palmateer and Amanda (Eric) DeMott; 10 great grandchildren; three stepchildren, Linnea (Calvin) Towne, Melanie (Benjamin) Walls and J. Paul (Connie) Bruce; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; three brothers, Clarence, Gerald and Sherwood (Sharon) Palmateer; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Bernard Palmateer in 2007; three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2017 in Colonial Woods Missionary Church. The Rev. Phil Whetstone will officiate.
Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville.
