Rosalyn McMillan-Smith
Rosalyn “Booge” McMillan-Smith, 63, of Memphis, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 12, 2017.
She was born October 14, 1953 in Port Huron to the late Edward and Madeline McMillan. She married John Smith on March 2, 1984 in Detroit.
Rosalyn graduated with honors from Port Huron High School in 1971. She studied design at Oakland Community College and authored several bestselling novels. She loved all things beautiful. Her home could have easily been in a magazine. She handcrafted glass jewelry, hats, evening attire, including coats! She was an amazing cook and homemaker and appreciated simple things; a rowdy card game with her favorite bid whist cousin, Arthur Dinkins. She was also a champion Scattergories player! We will miss her stylish and sometimes flamboyant ways but most of all her joyous and infectious laughter. She was a good mother, sister, friend and daughter. We will be forever grateful she was a part of our life.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, John D. Smith; children, Vester Hill, Jr., Ashley S. Hill, Shannon D. Hill and Jasmine D. Smith; and siblings, Terry L. McMillan, Edwin D. McMillan, Crystal J. McMillan and Vicki D. McMillan.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017 in Restoration Christian Community Church, 3201 Gratiot Ave, Port Huron. Pastor Carl Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Shannon Hill, Vester Hill Jr., Guy Washington, Gary Buckles, Mark Mitchell and Robert Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be Arthur Walton Jr., Clifford Washington, Vincent Buckles, Kevin Walton, Leon Edwards, DeMarr Dinkins and John D. Smith.
