John Thomas Mainguy

April 22nd, 1952 to June 23rd, 2017

John Thomas Mainguy, 65, of Kimball Township, died Friday, June 23, 2017.

He was born April 22, 1952, in Port Huron, to Thomas J. and Shirley J. Mainguy. He married Ruth A. Armstead on June 8, 1985 in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Port Hope.

John was a 1970 graduate Port Huron Catholic High School and had attended St. Clair County Community College. He was employed at the Grand Trunk Western Railroad for over 20 years and previously served with the Port Huron Township FIre Department.

He was a life member of Blue Water Sportsman’s Association, Pine River Sportsman’s Club, Michigan Trap Association and the National Rifle Association. He loved hunting, shooting, fishing, camping, anything to do with the outdoors and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth A.; two children, Jack (Leighanne) Mainguy and Becca (Tim) Malloy; six grandchildren, Hunter, Jackson, Jocelyn and Peyton Mainguy and Trace and Teagan Malloy; his mother, Shirley J. Mainguy (Richard VanLeen); two siblings, Ed (Joann) Mainguy and Dan (Ronni) Mainguy; his mother-in-law, Mary Forbing; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas J. Mainguy.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-8 p.m. Sunday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2017 in the Marysville Funeral Home. Pastor Aaron Duve of Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church will officiate.

Inurnment will be in Kinney Cemetery, Clyde Township at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Blue Water Area Humane Society or Blue Water Hospice.
