Joseph Micallef, Jr.
Joseph Micallef Jr., 83, of Grandville, formerly of Port Huron, died Thursday, September 28, 2017.
He was born November 24, 1933 in Detroit to the late Nina and Joseph Micallef Sr. He married Carole Jean Carrick on January 8, 1955 in Port Huron.
Joe worked at the Grand Truck and was a home builder building many homes around the Port Huron area. He also owned and operated Suburban Pets in Goodells and Port Huron, retiring in 1985. He served in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed spending time with his family and adored his wife of 62 years. Joe would light up when any one of his kids, grandchildren or great grandchildren would visit him. He will be greatly missed by his entire family.
He is survived by his wife, Carole Jean; five children, Mark (Joann) Micallef, Tony Micallef, Celine (David) Frizzle, Diana (Bill) Rich and Stephanie (Terry) Lash; 12 grandchildren, Mark, Shana and Anthony Micallef, Heather (Brian) Smith, Shawn (Melanie), Chelsea and Joshua Frizzle, Joseph Ellis, Christopher (Arena) Ellis, Eric (Kayla) and Kyle (Airelle) Ellis and Julie Wolfe; 15 great grandchildren; a brother, Charles Micallef; and several nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service for the immediate family will be held in the Mt. Hope Cemetery Chapel. The Rev. Joseph Gagnon will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery Columbarium. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Navy and St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
