Gilbert S Rice

Gilbert Stuart “Bert” Rice, 88, of Marysville, died Thursday, November 9, 2017.

He was born August 24, 1929 in Detroit to the late Walter and Jean Rice. He married Patricia McGibbon on September 17, 1978 in Bloomfield Hills. She preceded him in death on November 16, 2012.

Gilbert served in the U.S. Army. He was employed as a superintendent for Chrysler General Dynamics until his retirement in 1993. He was a life member of Laurel Lodge #575 F. & A.M.

He is survived by daughters, Sandra (Rick) Bicknell, Robin McArthur, Tracey (James) Bulas, Colleen (Randy) Braden and Kathleen McGibbon; son, John McGibbon; 11 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Walter (Dolores) Rice and William (Carol) Rice; and sister, Marleen (Richard) Auer.

Private graveside services will be held at Riverlawn Cemetery Chapel. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army accompanied by a Scottish piper.
