Donald A Schinkai

Donald Anthony Schinkai, 91, of Smiths Creek, died Friday, December 29, 2017.

He was born October 16, 1926 in Mt. Clemens to the late Frank and Helen Schinkai. He married Rozanne Schramm on September 13, 1952.

Donald graduated from Mt. Clemens High School in 1945. He was drafted into the U.S. Army directly from high school in 1944 and served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre during World War II. Following his service, he was employed as a tool and die designer until his retirement. Donald was also a long time member of Colonial Woods Missionary Church.

Donald is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rozanne; children, David Schinkai, Donald Schinkai Jr., Scott (Gretchen) Schinkai and Jeffrey (Theresa) Schinkai; grandchildren, Lisa (Bryan) McNaughton, Derek (Bertha) Schinkai, Peter (Adrianne) Schinkai, Bethany (RJ) Helguera, Andrew (Samantha) Schinkai, Jaime (Michelle) Schinkai, Kayne, Jordan, Jacob, Sydney and Anna Schinkai; and great grandchildren, Candice, Collin, Aerianna, Jonathan, Josephine, Nora, Mwape and Naomi. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Aaron Schinkai.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2017 in Colonial Woods Missionary Church with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. The Rev. Stan Liechty will officiate.

Burial will be in Clinton Grove Cemetery in Mt. Clemens. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army.
