Dale Ernest Thompson, 61, of Port Huron, died Thursday, February 8, 2018, with his family present, after a long illness.

He was born October 27, 1956 in Port Huron to Barbara (Schlicht) and the late David E. Thompson.

He attended Trinity Lutheran School and was a 1975 graduate of Port Huron Northern High School. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Dale loved hunting, playing baseball, swimming and traveling. He loved the movies Christmas Carol, Wizard of Oz and enjoyed the music of Neil Diamond.

He enjoyed his stay at Marwood Manor and Rehab, and was known for his special laugh he had recently won an award for his laugh. He loved Sunday morning services, playing bingo, art class and choir.

He is survived by his sons, Paul (Chelsie) Thompson of North Liberty, Iowa, Adam Thompson of Marshall, Texas and John (Misty) Thompson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his five grandchildren, Ava, Kira, Greysen, Brody and Leona Rose; his mother, Barbara Schommer; his brother, Mark B. (Susan) Thompson; and his niece, Jennifer Thompson. He was preceded in death by his father, David Thompson; his stepfather, Eugene Schommer; his grandparents, Ernest and Frieda Schlicht; his aunt, Betty Schlicht; his brother, Paul E. Thompson; and his nephew, Paul A. Thompson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2018 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the U. S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
