Clarence M Gentner
Clarence Martin Gentner, 89, of Marysville, died Thursday, March 22, 2018.
He was born May 31, 1928 in Harbor Beach to the late William and Anastasia Gentner. He married Martha M. Visga on October 14, 1950 in Marysville. She preceded him in death on February 18, 2017.
Clarence served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked on his uncle’s farm as a young man, then later at Mueller Brass, Mortimer and Son Lumber, Port Huron Building Supply and Lamb Welding. He was a long-time member of St. Christopher Catholic Church. He also enjoyed bird watching and hunting.
Clarence is survived by his children, Cheryl (EJ) Anglebrandt, Deborah (James) Nelson, Laurie Baker and Mary (Thomas) Dupuie; son-in-law, James Schneider; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Kenneth (June) Gentner; sister, Alvina Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Frances Schneider.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday in the Marysville Funeral Home. The Knights of Columbus will conduct a service at 3:30 p.m. and a scripture service will be held at 7:30 pm.
Clarence will lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 in St. Christopher Catholic Church. The Reverend James Arwady will officiate. Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery.
Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be James and Joshua Nelson, TJ Dupuie, Mike Rock and Adam Schneider. Honorary pallbearers will be Sarah and Heather Dupuie.
Memorials may be made to St. Christopher Catholic Church and the Alzheimer’s Association of Michigan.
