Judith C Melms
Judith Claire Melms, 72, of Port Huron Township, died Sunday, April 8, 2018.
She was born November 28, 1945 in St. Clair. She married Walter Melms on November 10, 1967 in St. Edward on the Lake Catholic Church, Lakeport. He died March 8, 2002.
Judi was employed for several years at Michigan National Bank in the proof department and as a teller. She was a Life Member of the Girl Scouts and received many leader awards. She was a volunteer with Port Huron Area Schools and with the PTA at Woodrow Wilson Elementary. She enjoyed cross stitch, crocheting and crafts.
She is survived by her daughter, Denise (Rory) Fox; her granddaughter, McKayla Melms, who was the love of her life; a sister, Janice McLaughlin; half-sister, Judy (James) Rose; half-brother, Richard (Helene) Lonick; her mother-in-law, Elsie Melms; two sisters-in-law, Christine (Joe) Cumerlato and Lorraine VanDerleun; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Marjorie Jackman; and her brothers-in-law, Adriene VanDerleum and Robert McLaughlin.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2018 in Holy Trinity Parish - St. Stephen Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. The Very Reverend Salvatore Palazzolo KHS will officiate.
Inurnment will be in Allied Veterans Cemetery Columbarium, Port Huron.
