Cornelia L Starkey

December 31st, 1917 to April 12th, 2018

Cornelia L. Starkey, 100, of Port Huron, continued her journey to eternal life, on Thursday, April 12, 2018.

She began her journey in this life on December 31, 1917 when she was born to Carl and Grace Steffen of Fraser, Michigan.

She married Carl E. Starkey, the love of her life, on April 15, 1939 in Fraser and he preceded her in death in 1985.

Mrs. Starkey was a member of the Marysville United Methodist Church, Marysville Women’s Club, several card clubs and was a volunteer with the American Cancer Society. She enjoyed quilting and was an avid gardener.

Her family and friends were the most precious possessions in her life. She is survived by three children, Christine Gizar, Susan (Larry) Heim and Daniel (Cindy) Starkey; seven grandchildren, Dave (Val) Gizar, Dan Gizar, Nichole Starkey, Michael Starkey, Wendy (Kurt) Stoliker, Heidi (Sean) Looney and Andria (Erich) Ditschman; ten great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; all who loved her very much.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; son-in-law, David; parents, Carl and Grace Steffens; sister, Gretchen; brother, Alger; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 18, 2018 in Marysville United Methodist Church with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. The Rev. Barbara Welbaum and the Rev. Robert Chapman will officiate.

Burial will be in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, Clinton Township.
