Richard D Collins
Richard D. “Rick” Collins, 70, of Port Huron, died Sunday, May 27, 2018 surrounded by his family, after living every day of his life with faith and optimism.
Rick was born September 1, 1947 to Robert Grant and Mary Ruth Collins of Emmett. He was a graduate of Port Huron Catholic Class of ’65 and Central Michigan University. He married the love of his life, Barbara Young on August 21, 1971 in Detroit and together they became part of the Port Huron community and charter members of The St. Joseph Chorale. His generous spirit has touched many lives in Port Huron, including Holy Trinity Parish at the St. Joseph Downtown site, Circle of Friends, Habitat for Humanity, his colleagues at Thompson Phelan Group and many others.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children Paul (Heidi) Collins, Karen (Sheri) Treadwell-Collins, and Suzanne (Jeff) Duprey, six grandchildren, Molly, Luca, Kodie, James, Michael and Tracy; siblings, Robert (late Sheila) Collins, Ruth Rankin (Jim Mehrtens), Mark (Barbara) Collins, Mary Doughty, and Thomas (Cynthia) Collins, in-laws, Martha & Blair Ballou, James & Margaret Young, Robert & Sandra Young, his friend and mentor since high school, Sr. Gloria Korhonen, many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. A Scripture Service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
Rick will lie in state at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.
The family would appreciate memorials be made to Holy Trinity Parish for the Choirs of St. Joseph or Blue Water Habitat for Humanity.
