George Frederick Paulus, 91, of Marysville, died Monday, July 2, 2018.

He was born June 28, 1927 in Syracuse, New York, to the late George and Marie Paulus. He married Rita O’Reilly on September 15, 1951 in Detroit. She died April 30, 2015.

Mr. Paulus was a chemical engineer with Acheson Colloids and held several patents. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Marysville Council 9526. He was a Red Cross volunteer and Board member for over 30 years. He was also involved with Senior Olympics. George enjoyed his years in Lakeport during the ‘50s and ‘60s serving on the Burtchville Township Fire Department. He was an avid Michigan football fan and enjoyed collecting coins and polished eggs.

He is survived by eight children, Mark Paulus, Bill Paulus, Matt (Julie) Paulus, Karen Paulus, Julia (Marc) Shure, Nancy (Scott) Armstrong, Janet O’Malley and Bridget (Scot) Smith; 14 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Joann) Paulus and Donald Paulus; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael in 1990 and Daniel in 2015.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Friday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Mr. Paulus will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018 in St. Christopher Catholic Church. The Rev. David Beechill will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
