William D Cain
William Dean Cain, 92, of Port Huron, died Friday, July 20, 2018.
He was born in Stillwell, Indiana, to the late Aden E. and Lelah M. Cain. The family moved to Port Huron in 1937. Bill graduated from Port Huron High in June 1944.
He served in the U.S. Army in Northern Italy during World War II. Upon returning to Port Huron, he met and fell in love with Rosella M. Matthews. They were married on June 19, 1948 in St. Stephen Catholic Church, Port Huron.
Mr. Cain was a certified public accountant for the City of Port Huron and retired as City Income Tax Administrator. He was a member of Charles Schoor V.F.W. Post #796 and Charles Hammond American Legion Post #8.
He is survived by seven children, David W. Cain, Carmen M. Schlitt, Deborah R. Cain, Susan A. ( Donald) Smith, Barbara L. Smith, Michael (Janet) Cain and Paul (Teresa) Cain; 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren; a sister, Anna Rutkofske; sisters-in-law, Arlene Looney, Dorothy Cain and Violet O’Connor; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosella; a son, Joseph; and brothers, Eugene and Albert.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 2 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 23, 2018 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 57575 Romeo Plank Road, Ray Township, with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Todd Angele will officiate.
Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Port Huron. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
