Jeremiah Durant

August 21st, 1941 to July 19th, 2018

Jeremiah Durant, 76, of Port Huron, passed away in death on July 19, 2018 surrounded by family at Henry Ford Hospital.

He was born August 21, 1941 to the late Jack and Gladys Durant of Greenville, Alabama, and was the oldest of ten children.

Jeremiah attended Greenville Public Schools. Upon completion in the ‘60s, he moved to Detroit where he was employed by General Motors. He later moved to Seattle and worked as a custodian until his retirement. He returned to his hometown of Greenville and then moved to Port Huron where he resided until his death.

Jeremiah was a man of many talents, which included spending time with family and friends, listening to music, and landscaping and gardening while having a toothpick in his mouth. But most of all, he loved his grandkids, Mondrian and Sierra, and nephews and nieces, Tre, Ray, JiKarrah and Ny’Airah.

Jeremiah leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Barbara; ten children, Lynette and Sophia Durant of New York, Jeremiah (Tonya) and Robert (Sheila) Mack of Illinois, Sonya, Anthony (Tiaesha) and Antonio (Stacey) Durant of Detroit and Meredith, Isaac and LaPayah Durant of Seattle; two stepchildren, Kathleen and William Lee of Port Huron; three sisters, Janice of Texas, Gladys (Bobbie) of Philadelphia and Maggie (Arthur) of Alabama; four brothers, Jimmy, Fredrick and Julius of Alabama and Jerome of New Jersey; three sisters-in-law, Augustia (William) of New York, Bertha (Charles) of Louisiana and Leona of Port Huron; a brother-in-law, Robert of Port Huron; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Gladys Durant; a son, Jeremiah; and two brothers, Anthony and John Durant.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2018 in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Brother Lenardo Burton will officiate.
