Frances L "Lee" Smyth

Frances Leora “Lee” Smyth, 92, of Marysville, died Wednesday, September 26, 2018.

She was born January 4, 1926 in Owensboro, Kentucky to the late Gideon Alphonsus and Frances Forrest Lee Gough. She married Floyd Smyth Jr. on July 25, 1956 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Lee was the first woman to work in the Port Huron Social Security Office. She worked in the personnel office for St. Clair Rubber until her retirement and then for United Technologies. Lee had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, especially baby blankets, and watching the Detroit Tigers. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Floyd; three daughters, Judy Michaels, Sue (Chuck) Wedge, and Lisa (Wayne) Schroeder; four grandchildren, Robin Hiller (Mike LaLonde), Rachel (James) Hunnicutt, April and Jason Schroeder; four great grandchildren, Cassie (Kevin) Moulton, Shannen Rodd, Ryan Hiller, and Avery Hill; one great great granddaughter, Emma; a sister, Jeanie Fulkerson; a brother, Bernard “Bunny” (Mary) Gough; special friend, Carol Koob; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Mathew Hiller; and brother, Joe “JC” (Anice) Gough.

Private family services have been held.
