Obituary

Barbara Ann Schommer, 82, of Port Huron, was released from all pain and suffering on Wednesday, October 17, 2018. She battled many chronic illnesses in the last years of her life.

She was born September 25, 1936 in Port Huron to the late Ernest and Frieda Schlicht. She married Eugene Schommer on August 25, 1967 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Port Huron. He died February 24, 2012.

Mrs. Schommer attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Port Huron High School. She was municipal court clerk for the City of Port Huron for seven years and then chief deputy clerk for the 72nd District Court for 20 years. She was a member of St. Clair County Retirees and Trinity Lutheran Church, where she served with Ladies Aid, Mary Martha Guild, the junior and senior choirs, and as past president of the P.T.L. Barbara loved shopping, bingo, playing cards, crafts and music.

She is survived by a son, Mark (Susan) Thompson; two stepdaughters, Genevieve (Rocco) Zaccagnino and Therese Dobrich; granddaughter, Jennifer Thompson; grandsons, Paul (Chelsea), Adam and John (Misti) Thompson; and several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Paul E. Thompson and Dale Thompson; and a grandson, Paul A. Thompson.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 22, 2018 in Trinity Lutheran Church. Dr. Mark Madson will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron.
