Obituary

Lawrence Joseph “Larry” McDaid, 70, of Port Huron and formerly of Fruitport, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 as the result of an automobile accident.

He was born November 29, 1947 in Port Huron to the late Joseph and Elizabeth McDaid. He married Cheryl J. Carpenter on October 11, 2008 in Port Huron.

Mr. McDaid earned master’s degrees in both computers and counseling. He was an educator at Muskegon Community College where he developed the online/distance education program. He later worked at St. Clair County Community College prior to retiring. He was a former member of the Fruitport Lions Club. Larry was a man of many interests. He loved sports, especially hockey, baseball and fishing in his younger years. He also enjoyed woodworking, family days on the beach and spending time with his grandchildren. When his daughters were younger, it meant the world to him to be involved in their activities, especially equestrian and soccer.

Visitation will be 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. Saturday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 18, 2018 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Rev. Max Amstutz will officiate.

Because education was so important to Larry, memorial contributions may be made to the family for his grandchildren’s education funds.
