James T Short

June 28th, 1945 to November 13th, 2018
James T. Short, 73, of Marysville, Michigan, died Tuesday, November 13, 2018. He was born June 28, 1945 in Pontiac, to the late Charles and Lillian Short. Jim was raised in Highland and went to Milford High School close by. He liked to swim, ski, and sled down Short’s hill. When he was a young adult he played in a handful of bands as drummer, singer and songwriter. Throughout his life he owned and operated a construction company, worked in maintenance and was an accountant (by chance). He was a life learner; participating in skill improvement seminars, earning a certification for Olympic pool maintenance, and later, taking on computer classes - to keep up with the times! He had many friends everywhere he went and was a dedicated Christian of the Seventh Day Adventist faith. After being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, his final landing was at Marwood Nursing & Rehab within the walls of the Bridgeport dementia unit. Even throughout this adventure, he continued to express his passion for people, music & dancing, and rejoicing in the Lord. He made many friends there that he would call family! He was a caring son (looked after his mom in a nursing home - she also had Alzheimer’s), brother, dad, grandpa and friend who gave his heart and soul to the people he loved. He is survived by a daughter, Cynthia (Scott) Badley; a son, Timothy Short; three grandchildren, Joel, Justin & Jessica Badley; and a sister, Betty Jane Wheeler. Graveside committal services will take place in the spring of 2019 in St. Mary Cemetery, Milford. Arrangements are by Marysville Funeral Home.
