Betty L Willing

Betty Lou Mertz Willing, 88, died Wednesday, December 19, 2018.

She was born January 14, 1930 in Port Huron to the late Maynard and Violet Smith. She married Waino W. Willing on July 18, 1952 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Port Huron. He proceeded her in death on June 19, 2017.

Betty was a devoted mother and wife who loved to attend her children’s and grandchildren’s events. She was always thinking of others and never forgot a birthday or anniversary.

She is survived by a son, David (Kim) Willing, two daughters, Marla (Dennis) Obertein and Beth Schwartz; six grandchildren, Timothy (Emilia) Obertein, Alexander McAuley, Devin Willing, Sandy Keeler, Shane (Sherry) Obertein and Shannon (Bill) Walz; five great grandchildren; special friends, Marilyn Mertz and Pat Thomas; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was proceeded in death by a daughter, Sharon McAuley; a son-in-law, Thomas Schwartz.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 28, 2018 in Trinity Lutheran Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. The Reverend Mark Madson will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron. Her grandsons, Timothy, Alexander, Devin and Shane, will serve as pallbearers.
