Roger Ted Allen
Roger Ted Allen, 79, of Kimball Township, died Monday, January 7, 2019.
He was born September 19, 1939 in Rochester to the late Theodore and Helen Allen.
He married Carollyn MacInnis September 3, 1960 in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Rochester.
Mr. Allen was employed with Ford Motor Company at the Utica Trim Plant, retiring as Maintenance Supervisor. He was also a volunteer firefighter in Rochester. He was a graduate of Rochester High School and Lawrence Technological University. Roger’s passion was giving back through community service organizations, especially the Lions Club International, where he had served as State Drug Awareness Chairman for Michigan, Governor of District R in Florida and was active with Leader Dog for the Blind in both Michigan and Florida. He was a longtime member of the Methodist Church, serving on church boards and working with youth at Capac Zion United Methodist Church, Ruskin United Methodist Church in Florida, and Jefferson City United Methodist Church in Tennessee. He and Carollyn hosted seven exchange students over the years and travelled extensively around the world. After retiring, they moved to Florida, then to Eastern Tennessee and had recently returned to Michigan. Roger enjoyed fishing, farming, tinkering with tractors, home improvement projects, and in later years, doing puzzles.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carollyn; five children, Rogllyn (Charlie) Packard, Roger Allen II, Heidi (Mark) Boadway, Jon (Jennifer) Allen and Naomi (Josh) Oliver; grandchildren, Roger Allen III, Bradley (Rebecca) Wright, Ashley (Andrew) Burkholder, Alan (Sarah) Boadway, Alex Allen, Brett Boadway, Caylyn Boadway, Jacob Allen, Daniel Oliver, Jenna Allen, Luisa Oliver and Laura Oliver; five great grandchildren; two siblings, Barbara (Ken) Burr and Robert (Carol) Allen; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Allen and Alberta “Birdie” Allen; brother-in-law, Steve Farr; and his beloved dog and protector, Boomhauer. He was preceded in death by three siblings, Arthur Allen, Raymond Allen and Laura Farr.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019 in Marysville United Methodist Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Barbara E. Welbaum will officiate.
