William E Fischer
William Eugene “Bill” Fischer, 78, of Port Huron, flew to eternal life on Wednesday, January 16, 2019.
He was born December 1, 1940 in Port Huron to the late Julius and Wanda Fischer.
Growing up, Bill loved swimming at Aunt Frankie’s with his brother, Jim, and sister, Betty, going to parks with the family and working with his hands. He was a Golden Gloves Boxing Champion. He loved his large Polish family, especially his Grandma Bostche.
As an adult, he owned and operated Fischer & Son Construction and plowed snow for the Port Huron Area School District. His great work ethic allowed him to continue working until the age of 77. He built houses and retaining walls, and did grading and leveling. He was a skilled mathematician and mason. He had the eye.
For fun, Bill enjoyed socializing, especially with Carolyn and her friends, talking sports with his brother and Sister Kathy, petting the dogs, eating and talking with his son. He loved spending time with family and friends, laughing and joking with his great sense of humor, working with his hands, sports, playing cards, problem solving, quantum physics and speculating about other realms and dimensions.
He is survived by his life partner of 32 years, Carolyn Crowe; two children, Susan Fischer and Eric (Sharla) Fischer; three grandchildren, Alyssa LaFave, Cory Fischer and Kirra Fischer; his brother, Jim (Terry) Fischer; brother-in-law, Jim Richardson and three nieces, Kim (Tim) Hudy, Shellie Fischer and Julie DeLaney. He was preceded in death by a brother, Sonny Fischer and a sister, Betty Richardson.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 20, 2019 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Sister Kathy Wood will officiate.
