Richard Lee "Rick" Ashley, Jr.
Richard Lee "Rick" Ashley, Jr., 54, of Ferndale, died unexpectedly Friday, January 11, 2019.
He was born July 29, 1964 in Port Huron to the late Richard L. and Carol L. Ashley, Sr.
Rick was a 1982 graduate of Marysville High School and attended Northern Michigan University. In 1988, he joined his uncle at what is now Veritiv Corporation in Detroit and worked there for over 30 years. His warmth, caring and generosity made him an instant
friend to everyone he met. He loved his family and time spent together was precious and not nearly enough. He was a proud uncle and reminisced often of the family trips to Disney. Rick enjoyed camping, casino trips, especially to Vegas and was also a huge fan of The Walking Dead. The biggest love of his life was his dog, Olive, who misses him every moment of every day.
Rick is survived by his best friend, twin sister, Holly (Chris) Mader, sister, Kim Lada, nieces; Ashley (Mike) Groulx, Samantha Lada, Maggie (Nathaniel) Bottenfield, and Nicole Mader, nephews; Dr. Brent Murray, and Nicholas Lada, and many aunts, uncles, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, and his beloved partner, John Swanek.
The family invites you to honor the memory of Rick during a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. .
Memorials may be made to the Blue Water Humane Society.
