Cherie L Peterson

October 20th, 1967 to February 28th, 2019

Cherie Lynn Peterson, 51, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, died unexpectedly Thursday, February 28, 2019 after a long courageous battle with Chronic Lyme Disease.

She was born October 20, 1967 and was the daughter of Joseph and Donna (Socha) Schweihofer. Cherie attended St. Clair schools where she met her best friend and love of her life Jeffery Peterson. They were married on November 11, 1990 in St. Clair.

Cherie received her bachelor of science from the University of Michigan and worked as a pharmaceutical sales representative for many years. Her incredible work ethic and empathy made her a natural mentor and friend for her colleagues. In recent years she devoted much of her time studying holistic healing as she searched for a way to ease the suffering of those not only with Chronic Lyme Disease but any type of suffering. Meditating, yoga, and all energy work was a passion of hers because at her heart she was a healer and all that came into contact with her felt her energy.

Cherie had the unique gift of making each person she was with feel as if they were the most important person in the world. Listening with her heart and offering genuine affirmation and support were gifts that she gave without even thinking. She always thought of others first and she showed this with her countless acts of kindness and hospitality. Her nurturing spirit made their house a second home to all that entered their world because it was a place of love, acceptance, incredible food, and non-stop laughter. Her love of fun which included impromptu dance parties, singing and goofy hats lightened the load of everyone and her one-of -a-kind laugh was truly infectious.

Cherie's greatest joy was her family and she was most proud of her wonderful 28 year marriage and the two beautiful, strong and loving daughters that she raised with Jeff. Seeing them out in the world making a difference with their special blend of intelligence and kindness brought her such happiness. She adored being a wife and mom and always had their needs foremost in her mind. Family time meant everything to her and they enjoyed countless beach vacations, often including extended family and friends, and the memories they made were what mattered to her. She truly led with love in all she did, and she loved everyone. Yet her family was, and always will be, what filled her heart and spirit.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jeff; precious daughters, Alex and Logan Peterson; mother, Donna Schweihofer; brother, Michael Schweihofer; sister, Barbara (Michael) Gaffney; brother-in-law, Jay (Maureen) Peterson; sisters-in-law, Connie (Rebecca) Bottine and Jennifer Peterson; mother-in-law, Barbara Farnham; and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. She loved and adored all of them, and they adored her in return.

She was preceded in death by her father Joe Schweihofer and father-in-law Ron Peterson.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Thursday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 8, 2019 in the Marysville United Methodist Church. The Reverend Barbara Welbaum will officiate.
