Iris I Koch
Iris Irene Koch, 66, of Port Huron, died Friday, March 15, 2019.
She was born June 19, 1952 in Seattle, Washington to the late John Gregory and Inas Illene Ziegler, the fourth child of that union. She married William Basil James Koch III in December 1972 in Los Angeles, California. He preceded her in death in 2001.
Iris graduated high school at Auburn Adventist Academy in Auburn, Washington in May 1970. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in December 1995 from George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon. Iris received her Master’s degree in May 1998 from Triune Biblical University in Kelso, Washington and received an honorary Doctorate in Divinity in May 2002 from the university. Her field of special emphasis was Adult Christian Education. She participated in the formation and development of Bible schools, first in Tacoma, Washington and then elsewhere around the world. She worked with the Harvest of Jubilee mission organization. She also taught at Covenant Bible College and Seminary in Federal Way, Washington.
Iris was a member of Blue Water Seventh-day Adventist Church. She was always active in Christian music and fellowship during her many years as a church pianist and organist. She was also involved in working on music camps and projects as well as helping with the local VBS and teaching bible study class.
She is survived by her sons, Jason and Jeremy Koch; step son, Christopher Koch; granddaughter, Jenny (Richard Jr.) Rockwell; great grandson, Richard Rockwell III; and brother, Gordon (Neda) Ziegler. She was preceded in death by twin still born sons, Billy and Andy Koch; and two older brothers, James and Gilbert Ziegler.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2019 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, 912 Lapeer Ave., followed by a reception at the Salvation Army. Pastor Don Doerzbacher will officiate.
