Hannah Winkler

March 1st, 1996 to December 26th, 2019
Obituary

Hannah Rebecca Winkler, born on March 1, 1996 in Kalispell, MT to Michael and Catherine Winkler went to be with our Lord on December 26, 2019 at the age of 23. Hannah passed away after a long fight against complications from a planned, successful heart surgery, away from home in New York, New York.

Hannah attended New Life Christian Academy, Central Middle School, and Port Huron High School in Port Huron, MI, graduating in 2014. She graduated from St. Clair County Community College with a degree in early childhood education in 2016. Hannah was crowned Miss Teen Detroit in 2015, where her platform was invisible disabilities. She was sweet, silly, loving, and infectiously joyful. Any tiny, cute animal immediately had her heart. One of Hannah’s lifelong loves was dancing. She eventually went on to combine her passion for dance and teaching by becoming a dance instructor. Hannah became involved with theater in 7th grade and continued to participate in many productions into college and beyond. She adored children and treasured her role as nanny to little Paisley. Artistic and creative, she constantly made gifts to surprise her loved ones. She enjoyed helping to plan family events such as birthdays, showers, and weddings, and always went above and beyond to make them very special. Hannah was especially close to her tight-knit family, and truly was a part of the mortar that held her family together.

Hannah is survived by her parents, Michael and Catherine; sister, Elizabeth (David) Ozzello; brother, Matthew (Autumn) Winkler; grandparents, Arthur and Willene Goerner and Kenneth and Diane Winkler; aunts and uncles, Donna (Les) Young, Arthur Goerner Jr., Laura (Mark) Burnham, Rebecca (Michael) Barno, Sandra (Michael) Mazza; first cousins, Leslie Young, Justine (Taylor) Christopher, Samantha Campbell, Jessica (Joshua) King, Kyle Campbell, Ryan Barno, Nolan Goerner, McKinna Goerner, Trevor Mazza, and Garrett Barno; many beloved second cousins, great aunts and uncles; and boyfriend, Andrew Kroetsch. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother Suzanne Winkler; great-aunts, Elaine Holtzman and Doris Snyder; and her beloved dog, Geoffrey.

Our family is thankful for everything that has been done to help support us through these last several months. We were able to be right by Hannah’s side 24/7 and fight as hard as we humanly could for her. She fought a very tough and prolonged battle; she was unbelievably strong. We don’t understand why this was the outcome, but we trust in God’s plan for her and our lives. Please continue to keep our family in your prayers as we grieve mightily for our loss. We are weary. Hannah was, and is, a huge bright spot in all our lives. We will never be able to relay just how wonderful she was. We are thankful for every one of her 23 years with us.
