John R Stuart

February 14th, 1929 to February 12th, 2020

John “Roland” Stuart was born February 14, 1929 in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England. He died February 12, 2020 in Port Huron, where he spent the last four years of his life. He was born to the late John Stuart and Ellen Whittaker. He married Mary McGee Brydon in June 1951 in Newcastle. Mary passed away on February 4, 2004 in San Antonio, Texas.

Roland served in the English Royal Air Force as a young man before he began his career in the steel industry. He worked in England and was sent to Mexico City to be the Plant Manager for British Ropes. He lived his best years in Mexico City, hosting many parties with Mary, and having one too many whiskeys. After moving to the U.S. in 1982, he worked in steel sales, later branching out on his own, creating his own sales representation company. He was proud to become a U.S. Citizen in 1997 inspiring others in his family to follow his lead. Roland was always willing to play a round of golf with friends; he was a self-proclaimed singer (to the detriment of his family) and enjoyed traveling the world. On Saturday mornings, you could find Roland enjoying a nice cup of tea while cheering on his Newcastle United English football team.

He is survived by four children, Dorothy Anne (Eduardo) Ramon, Elaine Becerra, John (Cynthia) Stuart and Charles (Allyson) Stuart; six grandchildren, Eduardo (Leigh) Ramon, Mariana Becerra (Francisco), Justin (Morgan) Stuart, Andrea Becerra Rodriguez (Andres), Jacob (Rebecca) Stuart and Cecilia Becerra; four great grandchildren, Evelyn, Madison, Liam and Oliver; and another great grandchild on the way. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Mauricio Becerra. Feeling the loss of their grandfather is also his extended family of David Scott Dulyea, Christopher Dulyea, Kevin (Kelly) Rippon, Shannon (Danny) Danckwerth, and Rebecca Rippon. As well as his extended family in the U.K.- nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with their families.

Private family services have been held and Roland and his wife Mary will be laid to rest near their beloved Skiddow in the Lake District, England.
