John W Jensen
July 16th, 1930 to April 21st, 2020
John Wilford Jensen, 89, of Fort Gratiot, MI, went home to be with his wonderful Savior, Jesus Christ the Lord, on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 with his loving family around him.
He was born July 16, 1930 in Kalamazoo to the late Eugene and Mabel (Johnson) Jensen. He married Joanne Charlene Frizzle on October 29,1954 in Port Huron.
Mr. Jensen was an Immigration Officer with the U.S. Customs and Immigration at the Blue Water Bridge for over 20 years. He served in the Korean War in the U.S. Army and was a very proud veteran. He was an English and History teacher, as well as a Basketball Coach, which he fully enjoyed. But he was most proud of preaching the word of God as a minister and teacher. He wrote over 13 books about the Bible and God’s unfailing love and it was of his highest importance to tell everyone he met about Jesus.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Joanne; two daughters, Melodie (Don) Goniwicha and Holly (Dale) Jensen-Tucker and his wonderful son, Jon Derek Jensen, who preceded him in death, what a joyous reunion. As well as many nieces and nephew he loved dearly.
His wife, daughters and sons-in-law would like to tell everyone that John was their rock, hero and bravest man they have ever known. He will be GREATLY MISSED until we all meet again, what a joyous reunion that will be.
Private graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A public memorial service for family and friends will be held later this summer.
Memorials may be made to the Jesus Film Project @ jesusfilm.org or First Church of the Nazarene of Port Huron, MI, which John was very much a part of.
