Norman M McLeod
Norman McKenzie McLeod, 88, of Port Huron, died Friday, August 28, 2020.
He was born January 8, 1932 in Wyandotte, Michigan and then moved with his family back to Scotland. He was born to the late Lena Hutcheson and Neil McLeod. He returned to Michigan at age 14. Norman attended Port Huron High School and Michigan State University. Go Green.
He married Mary Nell Ritchie of Harbor Beach on July 1, 1960 in Port Huron. They met at the VFW on Pine Grove. Nell died April 26, 2004.
Norman was a Korean War veteran; he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hyman as a Fire Control Technician/Range Finder. He was rarely seen at his favorite haunt, Manis Restaurant, without his USS Hyman Navy hat. He enjoyed going to the YMCA and playing the piano and harmonica. He loved Ping Pong and was a fantastic chess player. Norm was a big fan of the Secory Flyer Softball team. He was a life member of V.F.W. Charles Schoor Post #796. Norman was employed as an Engineer with Mueller Brass for many years.
He is survived by his children, Ritchie (Wendy) McLeod, Kate (Greg) May, Cari (Joseph) McPherson and Stuart (Jayme) McLeod; grandchildren, Allison and Tucker May, and Kyle and Dana McLeod. Norman had a total of 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is survived by sisters, Christine Pattison and Sue McLeod Pickard; sister-in-law, Marilyn Ritchie; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved dog, J.J.

Private family committal services with military honors have been held in Lakeside Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the YMCA of the Blue Water Area or the Blue Water Area Humane Society.
