George W. Miller
George William Miller, 83, went home to be with Jesus on November 2, 2011, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born November 29, 1927, in Marine City to the late Frank and Ila Miller. He was born again into God’s family in August 1949. He married Ethel Sandul on February 14, 1953, in the First Baptist Church of St. Clair.
George attended schools in Marine City, graduating in 1947. He served our country in the U.S. Army, 40th Infantry Division, 578th Combat Engineers Battalion in Japan and Korea during the Korean War. He later became a member of the American Legion. George worked for Detroit Edison Co. in St. Clair for 36 years, retiring in 1989. He liked to help people in any way he could including fixing things for some senior ladies in the church, helping with the bus ministry, building, serving as trustee and deacon, participating in the calling program and whatever else needed to be done.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ethel; a son, Keith (Penny) Miller; a daughter, Holly Proctor; two granddaughters, Tricia Miller and Kara Proctor; a great grandson, Michael Valdez; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Jr.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. Sunday in Marysville Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 7, 2011, in Columbus Bible Church, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. The Reverend Woodrow Nelson will officiate.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Marine City.
