Edith I Purkiss
Edith Isabelle Purkiss, 82 of Marysville, passed from this life on Saturday the 10th of April in the year of our Lord 2021.
She was born May 31, 1938 in Kimball to the late Francis and Ezra Fye Sr. She married Leland Joseph “Butch” Purkiss on July 19, 1958 in Pilgrim Lutheran Church. He died September 12, 2018.
Edith worked as a noon supervisor for Marysville Gardens Elementary for many years. Her passing will be deeply felt by those she loved. She was a kind and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Edith will be remembered fondly each time her loved ones visit a casino, buy a lotto ticket or even pump gasoline (which she never learned to do in her 82 years). People who knew Edith and her loving husband, Leland “Butch”, will always remember their hospitality and kindness around the kitchen table where everyone was always welcome.
She is survived by her children, Dena (James Kornik) Cline-Kornik, Robert Purkiss and Cheryl Scott; 10 grandchildren, Nathan (Alicia) Cline, Trever (Paiam) Etminan, Erica Capadagli, William and Sara Purkiss, Amber, Cole and Donald Sedwick; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Ezra J. (Tammy) Fye; sister-in-law, Jackie Fye; many special nieces and nephews; and very dear friend, Kathy Fletcher. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Maryann Verlinde, Patricia Friedland, Charles Fye, Margaret Hurd, Wayne Fye and Doreen Gould.
An open house will be held at Butch and Edith’s home on Sunday, July 18, 2021 from 1-4 p.m. Graveside services will follow in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 19, 2021, what would have been their 63rd wedding anniversary.
