Karl A Dobel

February 18th, 1942 to April 21st, 2021

Karl Alan Dobel went home to be with His Lord on April 21, 2021. Better known as Alan, he was born in Battle Creek, MI on February 18, 1942 to Karl A. and Rachael Dobel. The family moved to Port Huron in 1949. Alan attended PH Schools, graduating from Port Huron High in 1961 and Port Huron Business College in 1963.

He married Sue Stone on August 17, 1963. Their children are Kay Deanda and Kristopher “Kip” Dobel.

In 1967 he was employed by DTE at Port Huron Power Plant as a power plant operator. He then went to St. Clair Fuel Supply as a heavy equipment operator. After 12 years he bid back into operations at Marysville PP, retiring after 36 1/2 years.

Karl was a man of faith, trusting Jesus as his Savior and seeking to honor God with his life. He was a long-time member of Northgate Bible Church, serving in many leadership capacities and in the music ministry.

Alan was an avid motorcyclist, enjoying riding his Harley every day. He was a member of Harley Owners Group and Christian Motorcycle Association.

He was a volunteer for Operation Transformation. He also was interested in the ships on the Great Lakes and was a volunteer with the Highlander Sea Sailing Ship, taking great enjoyment in being part of the crew and in helping to do maintenance.

Prior to Covid restrictions Alan was part of the ROMEOs, enjoying the comradery of those men. He was also a Member of Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel.

Following his retirement from DTE he developed his love of music, singing with the Port Huron Schubert Male Chorus.

He is survived his wife of 57 years, Sue; his children, Kay and Brock Deanda, Ludington, MI, and Kip and Shannon Dobel, Fort Gratiot, MI; and grandchildren, Jack Karl and Mikaela and her fiancée Samuel Buckley.

There will be a memorial service on May 15 at 1:30 p.m. at Northgate Bible Church, 4311 Pine Grove, Fort Gratiot, MI.

Memorial gifts may be made to Northgate Bible Church or Spero Pregnancy Center.
