James Purl Morgan, 86, of North Street, died Friday, May 7, 2021.
He was born March 20, 1935 in Detroit to the late Floyd S. and Ethel M. Morgan. He married Eleanor L. Holcomb on September 21, 1957 in Yale United Methodist Church. His bride of 64 years died January 23, 2020.
James was a graduate of Yale High School. After graduating, he served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Auto Color & Equipment. James enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing shuffleboard and playing cards, especially Euchre, and visiting with friends in Arizona and Michigan. He especially enjoyed going to his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and helping others. Many happy memories were created camping with his family.
He is survived by his four children, Pamela McDougal, Terry Edwards, Michael (Mary Jo) Morgan and Todd (Teri) Morgan; he was “Papa” to his seven grandchildren, Lindsay and Robert McDougal, Staci Edwards (Brandon Blood), Brittney (Christopher) Kemp, and Abigail, Mikayla and Alyssa Morgan; and great grandson, Nolan Kemp.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, May 17, 2021 in the Marysville Funeral Home. A limited number of people will be allowed in at a time. Please wear a mask for the safety and comfort of others.
A private family service will follow at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, May 17, 2021 in the Marysville Funeral Home. Celebrant Laurie Wilson will officiate. Friends may view the service livestream on James’ obituary page of the funeral home website. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
