Myrtle Mae Diem

March 25th, 1929 to November 24th, 2011
Myrtle Mae Diem, 82, of Marysville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 24, 2011 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born March 25, 1929 in Ruby to the late Frank and Sarah (Badgerow)

Goodwin. She married Kenneth C. Diem on September 6, 1952 in Port Huron. He died February 1, 2006.

Mrs. Diem worked at Prestolite Wire Company for a few years, then was a devoted wife and mother for many years. She was a member of Blue Water Free Methodist Church. She dearly loved her family, grandchildren, reading her Bible, attending church, cooking and shopping garage sales.

She is survived by a son, Kenneth (Michelle) Diem of Macomb; two daughters, Linda (Michael) Durst of Fort Gratiot and Denise Gardner of Lapeer; six grandchildren, Kristie Philliben, Jeremy Durst, Kylie Bodiya, Chelsea Diem and Cheyanne & Chad Gardner; three brothers, Clarence (Beverly) Goodwin, Kenneth (Betty) Goodwin, and Fred; three sisters, Virginia (the late Elmer) Atkins, Florence (Ernest) Warsinski and Barbara (Kenneth) Sparr; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathleen Diem; a son-in-law, Chris Gardner; granddaughter, Heather Gardner; six brothers, Lee (the late Helen), Walter, Bert (Irene), Curtis (Sondra), Calvin (the late Gisela) and Eugene (Geraldine); and a sister, Gladys (the late Robert) May.

Visitation will be 1-3 & 5-9 p.m. Sunday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2011 in the Marysville Funeral Home. The Reverend Richard W. George will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville. Pallbearers will be Ken Diem, Mike Durst, Jeremy Durst, Keith Philliben, Ken Sparr Jr. and Dale Sparr.
