Obituary

Lawrence Delbert “Del” Cox, 77, of Kimball, peacefully completed his earthly journey on Friday, July 2, 2021 surrounded by his family.

He was born October 25, 1943 in Port Huron to the late Orville and Marie Cox.

Lawrence “Del” worked at St. Clair Rubber Company and retired from Grand Trunk/CN Railroad as a machinist after 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Del enjoyed going “up north” to camp, fish, hunt and hang out with his family. He also loved eating cookies at Terry and Nora’s house.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Debby Hawley; three sons, Jeffery “Jeff” (Michelle) Cox, Ronald “Ron” (Katherine) Cox and Jordan Cox; stepchildren, Mark (Leann) Hawley and Melisa (Keith) Rinehart; grandchildren, Troy, Alexis and Morgan Cox, Ashley and Jerrid Gilbert, Matthew Hawley and Karryn and Dakota Rinehart; great grandchildren, Aubrey and Skylar Stager; siblings, Orville Cox, Timothy (Mary) Cox, Deborah Cox, Harvey (Debbie) Cox, Rosanna Cox and Walter (Lorna) Cox, sister-in-law, Nora Cox; his little dog Lilly that he loved so much and Baby the cat. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cynthia Hering; and siblings, Ronnie Cox, Steven Cox, Joyce Blaine, Linda Ultsch and Terry Cox.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
