Obituary

Melvin Richard Sweet, 86, of Kimball Township, went home to be with our Lord on Sunday, July 4, 2021. His passing was from complications of Parkinson’s Disease.

He was born June 3, 1935 in Port Huron to the late William and Jenny Sweet. He married Rosemarie Ristau on June 26, 1954 in Port Huron.

Mr. Sweet worked for 27 years at Falk Motors in Port Huron and retired from his Sweet Cleaning business. He and Rosie enjoyed many winters at their home in Lakeland, Florida following their retirement. He attended Blue Water Free Methodist Church and he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Rosemarie; loving children, Diann (Thomas) Gorguze of Royal Oak, Rebecca Loshaw of Port Huron and Richard Sweet of Macomb; six grandchildren, Jennifer Loshaw, John (LeAnn) Loshaw Jr., Katrina, Zachary, Alexa and Tyler Sweet; three great grandchildren, Audrey and Avery Loshaw and Quinten Alderman; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Vonda (Herbert) Struthers; brother, Edwin (Edna) Sweet, brother-in-law, George Ristau; sister-in-law, Margaret (Rodney) Thompson; and son-in-law, John Loshaw.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, 912 Lapeer Avenue, Port Huron.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 9, 2021 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Pastor Randy Bennett will officiate.

Burial will be in Caswell Cemetery, Kimball Township.
