Obituary

Betty Bernadine Thornton Barton, 89, of Port Huron Township, died Wednesday, July 14, 2021.

She was born August 3, 1931 in Marysville.

Betty was employed with Mary Maxim for many years prior to retirement. She enjoyed solving puzzles, sewing, playing cards and working in the yard. She was a member of Washington Avenue United Methodist Church.

She is survived by four children, Brenda LaTurno (Mike Mellick), Jeanette (Michael) Cowley, Mary (Robert) Shagena and Paula (Peter) Schneider; eight grandchildren, Jason LaTurno (Lorry Politowicz), Terri (David) McKinnie, Jeff (Stacy) Cowley, Stephen (Brandy) Smith, Bill Pryor II (Liz Chickonoski), Amy (Matt) Aleman, Justin (Jen) Shagena and Adam (Jackie) Trousdale; 24 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; two sisters, Blanche Melms and Helen Johnson (Russ Dickinson); and a brother, Harold Baker (Donna Baker). She was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard Thornton and Jack Barton; grandson, James Trousdale Jr.; parents, Louis Baker and Bertha Rush; son-in-law, Lawrence LaTurno Jr.; a brother, Harry Baker; and best friend, Lewis Radske.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 18, 2021 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Ellen Hoover, a friend of the family, will officiate.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fort Gratiot Township.
