Olga I Hackett
Olga Irene Hackett, 105, of Port Huron, died August 16, 2021 in Marwood Nursing and Rehab, Port Huron, MI, after a long fulfilling life.
Olga was born Sunday, June 11, 1916 in Marion Heights, Pennsylvania to the late Louis and Mary (Gonda) Czapf. She was the youngest of eleven children. Olga married Floyd A. Hackett on January 15, 1938 in Dearborn, MI. He died January 19, 1994. Together they raised five children.
After Floyd passed, Olga began spending the cooler winters with her daughter, Florine, and son-in-law, Gary, in South Carolina. She would return home to Port Huron in the warmer months where she lived with her daughter, Gail, and son-in-law, Ken.
She was a long-time member (1951-present) of Sturges Memorial Congregational Church, Port Huron. At Sturges Church she taught Sunday School, sang in the church choir, worked on several boards, volunteered for various functions and was a member of the Ladies Aide Group. She loved her church and church family.
Olga enjoyed knitting (donating hundreds of hats and mittens), crafting, reading, gardening and traveling. Several summers were spent camping with the family. Later she and her husband enjoyed traveling as members of the Good Sam Club.
She is survived by two sons, Alan (Mary) Hackett of Warren, Michigan and Brian (Darlene) Hackett of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two daughters, Florine (Gary) Liebzeit of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Gail (Kenneth) MacBeth of Port Huron, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Deborah Mitchell, Yvonne Mitchell, Kevin Liebzeit, Krystal (Joseph) Edwards, Nicholas (Barbara) Lapp, Trevor (Tamra Johnston) MacBeth and Emily (Jacob) Schmeltzer; ten great grandchildren, Amanda, Mitchell, Regina, William, Randall, Robert, Gabriel, Jocelyn, Hanna and Simon; a brother-in-law, H. Donald Hackett of Ohio; special niece, Verna Irene Gross of Ann Arbor, Michigan; and many more nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Deanna and Russell Mitchell, and great-grandson Mitchell. She was also preceded in death by all ten of her siblings.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2021 in Sturges Memorial Congregational Church, 2729 Ravenswood, Port Huron. The Rev. Dr. G. Patrick Thompson, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will be in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, Mt. Clemens.
