Eugene R "Gene" Belkiewicz

Eugene Ronald “Gene” Belkiewicz, 86, of Fort Gratiot, died Sunday, August 22, 2021.

He was born July 2, 1935 in Detroit to the late Joseph and Julia Belkiewicz. He married Beverly Repphun in 1955 in Angola, Indiana. She died April 6, 1996.

Mr. Belkiewicz served in the U.S. Army for 22 years. He served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was a member of the 1st Air Cavalry Division and the 101st Airborne. He was then employed in food service with the Marysville School District for six years and sailed on the Great Lakes as a Merchant Marine for 16 years.

He is survived by four children, Vicki (Tony) Cain, Duwain Belkiewicz, Marie Belkiewicz (Linda Bullis) and Julia Belkiewicz; five grandchildren, Danielle (Paul) Smith, Aaron Fredendall, Jennifer (Victor) Maul, Jamie (Dave) Mayer and Justin (Cassie) Belkiewicz; nine great grandchildren; a brother, James (Rose) Belkiewicz; a brother-in-law, Gary Holmes; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Holmes; and two brothers, Jack Belkiewicz and Joseph Belkiewicz.

Visitation will be 12-2 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 26, 2021 in St. Mary Catholic Church. The Reverend Zbigniew Zomerfeld will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Port Huron. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
