Joanne M. Skerratt

Joanne M. Skerratt, 78, of Clyde Township, formerly of Highland, Michigan, died Wednesday, November 30, 2011.

She was born September 18, 1933 in Clearwater, Florida to the late Albert and Iona Summers. She married Howard Skerratt on November 26, 1952 in East Lansing.

Mrs. Skerratt was a 1951 graduate of Eastern High School in Lansing. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Houghton Lake and St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Coolidge, Arizona. She supported various charities. Joanne was devoted to her family, especially her granddaughter and she will be sadly missed by all.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Howard; two daughters, Gaye (Denis) Skerratt-Guenette of Clyde Township and Lisa G. (Charles) Burkhart of Highland; and a granddaughter, Joanna (Brian) Simmons of Bay Port. Mrs. Skerratt was excited about the pending birth of her first great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Albert C. Summers Jr.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2011 in Highland at the Highland Community Church, 2350 Harvey Lake Road, Highland, MI. Pastor Nick Ruffer will officiate.
