Everybody Loved Raymond!

Raymond W. Burgess, a kind, generous, loyal, caring and loving man of 92 years, died Friday, September 3, 2021.

He was born January 20, 1929 in Port Huron to the late Raymond and Maude Burgess, married Dorothy Stephenson on May 2, 1987 in Port Huron. Together they built a life of love and travel.

Raymond served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He then founded Raymond Excavating and Burgess Contracting, retiring at the age of 82. His love for the companies and respect for his fellow employees never diminished. He loved going to work every day!

He and Dorothy enjoyed collecting classic cars, antique transportation toys, petrobilia, and Coca-Cola memorabilia. Raymond took up golf at the age of 66 and a year later obtained a hole-in-one. He could often be found working a crossword puzzle.

Raymond cherished his family, friends, and business associates. He was a member of Fort Gratiot Lodge #58 F.& A.M. Raymond and Dorothy enjoyed their years living in Port Huron, Michigan and wintering in Naples, Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; four children, Michael (Cindy) Burgess, Julia Brown, David (Susie) Burgess and Timothy Burgess; four stepchildren, LeeAnne (George) McInnis, Craig (Meghan) Stephenson, Carrie (Randy) Raymo and Amy (Brett) Kearney; 11 grandchildren, Brandon, Jessica and Nick (Aleisha) Burgess, Ryan McInnis, Justin (Robin) Durfee, Josh (Jessica) Shell, Alexandria (Immanuel) Singh, Korey Burgess, Kyle Raymo, Aislin and James Kearney; 11 great grandchildren, Devyn McInnis, Hale, Reed, Tyce and EllieLynn Durfee, Lola, Blake and Izabella Burgess, Aubree, Boston and Borden Shell. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lynn Clarke.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, September 17, 2021 in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021 in the Marysville Funeral Home. The Reverend Joseph Gagnon will officiate.

Inurnment will be in the Riverlawn Cemetery Columbarium, Marysville. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Marine Corps and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
