Geraldine Irene McOuat

April 10th, 1923 to October 25th, 2011
Geraldine Irene (Fitz) McOuat, 88, of Port Huron, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 26, 2011.

She was born April 10, 1923 in Lambs, Michigan to Earl and Lulu Fitz. Gerry married Howard “Doc” McOuat on May 15, 1953 in Port Huron. Her smile could light up a room.

Gerry was an excellent cook and passed her culinary love to all her children. Her greatest love was having guests over for dinner. Doc and Gerry were always having parties wherever they lived, at the beach in Lakeport, on the St. Clair River in Port Huron, or in Florida. They loved playing cards and watching the boats.

They were avid travelers from coast to coast and even Hawaii. Gerry and Doc visited 13 countries, including many in Africa and Europe.

They lived in North Fort Myers, Florida for 16 years. Doc passed way in September of 2000 and Gerry moved back to Port Huron to be with her family. She always missed her great friends in Florida.

Gerry was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi International, Epworth League, Eastern Star #170 and a founding member (1943) of the Methodetts of First United Methodist Church of Port Huron.

She is survived by her children, Rick, Craig, Cheryl and Kevin (Cathy) McOuat; two grandchildren, Alan and Daniel McOuat; two sisters, Donna (Gaylord) Feick and Deloris Balmer; a brother, Don (Lois) Fitz; several nieces and nephews; and many, many special friends and relatives.

Gerry was preceded in death by her husband, Doc, and two infant grandchildren, Mark and Jeremy McOuat.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at First United Methodist Church of Port Huron, 828 Lapeer Avenue, with a luncheon to follow.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Port Huron or Marwood Nursing and Rehab.

Arrangements are by Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
