Bennet L Smyth

Bennet Lee Smyth, 91, of Port Huron, died Sunday, September 26, 2021.

He was born April 28, 1930 in Winchester, Kentucky to the late Eliza and Floyd Smyth Sr. He married Bessie E. Wood on February 5, 1966 in Port Huron.

Ben graduated from PHHS where he excelled in basketball and baseball. He was a pitcher within the Cleveland Indians minor league baseball organization for several years before entering in the U.S. Army. He was employed with Mueller Brass and retired from Dunn Construction. Ben enjoyed fixing and tinkering with things and keeping his neighbors plowed out in the winter.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bessie; children, Benita (Jeff) Davis, Phillip Smyth and Amy (Jamie) Seibert; grandchildren, Amber Davis (Tyler Post), Zach (Hannah) Davis, Aiden and Eliza Seibert; two great grandchildren, Stella and Izabella Post; sister, Shirley Kovach; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Eric Floyd Smyth; and brothers, Eugene, Ray, Robert and Floyd Smyth Jr.

Private family services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 4, 2021 in the Woodland Cemetery Chapel, Port Huron Township.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
