Obituary

Ethel Mae Williams, 98, of Port Huron, formerly of Detroit, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 13, 2021.

She was born July 30, 1923 in Southern Pines, NC to the late Frank and Ophelia McKeithen.

Ethel graduated from Fayetteville Teacher’s College with a Bachelors Degree and then received a Masters Degree from Wayne State University. She was a teacher at Ecorse Public Schools for 38 years before her retirement. She was a faithful member of St. Paul AME Church in Detroit and Zion Cathedral of Praise in Port Huron. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and was later baptized in the Name of the Lord and filled with the Holy Spirit at New Grace Apostolic Church in Ann Arbor. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, The Victorians Club, Stewards Board and Phi Delta Kappa. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School, playing bridge, traveling the world and caring for her relatives.

She is survived by her daughter, Suff. Bishop Kimberly (Anthony) Brown; grandchildren, Gary (Ebony) Drewery, Anthony (Tanisha) Brown II, Alicia Drewery, Tonique Brown (fiancé Terrance), Tonia Brown (fiancé Tre) and Kimberly (Alden) Jackson; 19 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins; a host of other relatives and loved ones, including a special daughter, Audrey Morris; and many more who called her mom. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest P. Williams Sr., son, Ernest P. Williams Jr.; two sisters; and one brother.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, October 22, 2021 in Zion Cathedral of Praise with visitation one hour prior to the service. Ethel’s daughter, Suff. Bishop Kimberly Brown will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
