Suzette Mitchell

December 13th, 1948 to October 25th, 2021

Suzette Mitchell, 72, of Port Huron, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 25, 2021 at home.

She was born December 13, 1948 in Port Huron to the late George C. Spear III and James Ella Spear. She married Walter L. Mitchell on February 15, 1969 in Port Huron.

Suzette was a hairdresser, phlebotomist, Walmart greeter, Sunday School teacher, play writer, kids church leader and usher who loved to spend time with her family. Sister Suzette Mitchell was an active member of Bethlehem Temple Church, serving under Bishop Marvin Mitchell, and was also a member of All Nations Church of God in Christ, serving under Superintendent Vincent E. Matthews Sr.

She enjoyed getting her nails done, playing bingo, watching movies with family, shopping, and going to church. Best of all, she loved to eat all foods. Suzette had a creative mind, inventing a Kool Aid dispenser, a kid’s card game called Hide In Plain Sight (HIPS) and a song called “Jesus Loves Me.”

Suzette was a servant for God, always talking about the Word. When she got started, it was hard to get her to stop. Her compassion for people was overwhelming. If she saw a need, she filled the need always, no matter who it was, asking nothing in return.

She leaves to mourn her passing, three sons, Edward and James Curry of Port Huron and Raynard Adams of Detroit; seven grandchildren, Brittney Beitler of Brownstown, Jasmine (Joseph) Treat of St. Clair, Jordan Curry of Phoenix, Arizona, Casey Devroy Curry of Port Huron, and Darrien, Siah and Alon Curry, all of Port Huron; 10 great grandchildren and a host of great nieces and nephews; three siblings, George C. Spear IV and Helen L. Mason, both of Port Huron, and Veronica L. Spear of Florida; a special niece, Sonjia (Randolph) Davis of Port Huron; three special great nieces, Di’Mond, Da’More and Destyne Davis, all of Port Huron; special cousin, Tyrone Smith; best friends, Alvester Brown, Lucille Thompson, Brigitte Haller and Brenda Rucker; God daughter, Rachelle Allen; and a host nieces, nephews and family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter L. Mitchell; her father, George C. Spear III; her mother, James Ella Spear; sisters, Lucille Woodley and Pearl Mae Jones; and a special cousin, Beulah Jackson.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Ann Hawley, her nurse, and Patrick Weekhout, her physical therapist.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2021 in All Nations Church of God in Christ with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. Bishop Marvin Mitchell will officiate.
