Ronald D Smith

Ronald Duane Smith, 88, of Fort Gratiot, died Wednesday, November 10, 2021.

He was born February 4, 1933 in Port Huron to the late Fred and Louise Smith. He married Delores Herman on March 31, 1952 in Angola, Indiana.

Mr. Smith was an operating engineer with Chet’s Excavating. He served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean War. He loved horses, football, NASCAR and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Delores; seven children, Karen (Dennis) Semrow, Bonnie Chatterson (Randy), Terri (George) Torello, Michael (Dianna) Smith, Larry Smith (Kris Mills), Patrick (Ceil) Smith and Tina Smith; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Eva) Smith; and a half sister, Betty Jo Smith. He was preceded in death by brothers, Gerald, Carlton, Bobby, Fred, Jerry and Bill Smith; and sisters, Eleanor Wagner, Barbara Bullard, Joyce Dunlap and Shirley Marsh.

Cremation has taken place and private services will be held.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
