Gary L Adcock

March 22nd, 1949 to November 14th, 2021

Gary Lee Adcock, 72, of Kimball died Sunday, November 14, 2021, after a battle with cancer.

He was born March 22, 1949 in Detroit to the late Warren and Elda Adcock. He married Sandra Ann MacPherson on July 16, 1977 at Christ Lutheran Church in Warren.

Gary graduated from Utica High School in 1967 and earned his associate’s degree before going to work for the IRS. He joined the U.S. Air National Guard in 1978, serving for six years, during which time he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. After his discharge, he was employed with the Department of Defense until his retirement. Gary was a lifelong learner, becoming a fierce opponent in Trivial Pursuit. He was also a classic car enthusiast and was especially proud of his 1967 GTO. His greatest love, though, was for his grandchildren, thus giving him an appreciation for his minivan.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sandra; children, Tera (Ken) Steele, Brent (Melinda) Adcock and Stacie (L Jay) Little; ten grandchildren, Rev. Ken (Abigail) Steele II, Kaitlyn (Joshua) Latham, Brent Adcock II, Xander, Lillian and Isaac Adcock, and Bryce, Kyden, Dylen and Jaelyn Little; two great grandchildren, Adeline and Leona; sister, Debbie (George) Frederick; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Adcock.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Fellowship Baptist Church, 5200 Park Dr., East China. The Rev. Ken Steele II, Gary’s grandson, will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army.

Inurnment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Port Huron in spring of 2022. At that time, he will be honored by the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard and the releasing of doves.
