Obituary

Robert James Bedore, 89, of St. Clair, died Tuesday, November 16, 2021.

He was born May 31, 1932 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Arthur J. and Alberta (Wetherbee) Bedore.

He was born and raised in the shadow of Notre Dame Stadium. After graduating from John Adams High School in 1950, Robert joined the U.S. Army Reserves and was working for the Studebaker Corporation when he was activated in October 1952 to serve in the Korean War. While stationed in Iceland he received honors as Soldier of the Month. He was honorably discharged in August 1956.

After years of working for Bendix Corporation in South Bend, he took a position with State Farm Insurance as an agent in Sturgis, Michigan. He transferred to Port Huron and owned and operated the State Farm Bedore Insurance Agency with his wife Diane, until his retirement in 2001 after 41 years of service.

Robert was a lifetime member of the Sturgis Elks #1381, Past President of the Sturgis Rotary Club, member of the Sturgis Public Schools Advisory Board and Holy Angels Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Diane; children, Carol (Wesley) Lauster and Carla (James) Holmes, Angela (Greg) Klimek; a brother, Richard (Barbara) Bedore; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Caren Renae Bedore; and his son, Charles Cook, in 2008.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2021 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Deacon Richard Kliemann will officiate.

Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Sturgis.
