Obituary

Ellen Mildred Banks, 94, of Smiths Creek, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 19, 2021.

She was born September 5, 1927 in Detroit to the late Charleton and Jerusha Palmer. She married Thomas Joe Banks in Smiths Creek at First Baptist Church, where she was a member for 25 years. In 1970, Ellen moved her faith to Bethlehem Temple Apostolic Faith Church, Port Huron.

Mrs. Banks was employed with Port Huron Hospital for over 30 years prior to her retirement. She loved fishing, baking, reading and serving the Lord.

Leaving to cherish her memory, her three sons, William L. Palmer of Port Huron, Charles Edward Jackson and Hezekiah W. (Donna) Miller, all of Smiths Creek; a daughter, Barbara Jean Jackson of Smiths Creek; nine grandchildren, Derrick (Tiffany) Buffalo, Kimberly Boyd, LaFonce (Elda) Jackson, Orlando Jackson, Sylvester Hilliard Jr., Staci Hilliard, Saundra Miller, Emily LaPharl, Larry (Terri) Hicks, Brandy and Danielle Glover; a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; God child, Nicole Wade Panska and a great God child, Aria Panska; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends; and special nieces, D’Wanda (Chris) Lee and Georgia (Charles) Holmes. She loved us all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Joe Banks; her children, Jacqueline (Sylvester Sr.) Hilliard, Virginia Wright and T.J. Banks Jr.; five sisters, Frances Hutchinson, Marian Murphy, Rosetta Hall, Marion Smith, and Dorothy Stark Morgan; a brother, Charleton Palmer Jr.; a granddaughter, Willette Palmer Calliatte; and a great grandson, Damien Boyd.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, November 22, 2021 in Bethlehem Temple Church with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Bishop Marvin Mitchell will officiate.

Burial will be in Caswell Cemetery, Kimball Township.
