Margaret Angela Elizabeth Charles
Margaret Angela Elizabeth Charles, 94, of Port Huron, died Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at home after a long illness.
She was born March 11, 1917 in Petersborough, Ontario to the late Patrick and Florence Gorham and moved with her family to Port Huron in 1924. She married Albert Charles on November 9, 1934 in Port Huron. He died December 4, 1989.
Mrs. Charles was an inspector for Prestolite Wire Company for over 40 years. She graduated from St. Stephen Catholic High School in 1934 and became a U.S. citizen in 1942. She was a member of the VFW Charles Schoor Post #796 Auxiliary, the American Legion Charles Hammond Auxiliary Unit #8, Women of the Moose Chapter #99 and the Eagles. Margaret attended and was a member of Club 90 at First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre.
She is survived by three sons, Edwin (Mary) Charles, Keith (Judy) Charles and Michael (Delta) Charles; two daughters, Kristina (Gary) Rutowski and Robin Charles; a son-in-law, Bud Ceglarek; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Charles; 15 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; a sister, Sister Pauline Gorham; a sister-in-law, Marilynn Gorham; and a dear friend, Aleta Day. She was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth Charles and Thomas Charles; a daughter, Darlene Ceglarek; three brothers, Francis, John and Clair Gorham; and a sister, Verna Deacons.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2011 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Ralph Piper will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Margaret’s family.
