Obituary

Karen Anne Hartig, 77, of Marysville, died Friday, January 7, 2022 in her home surrounded by her family.

She was born September 28, 1944 in Port Huron to the late Ivan and Lois “Peaches” Nurenberg. She married John Hartig on September 7, 1963 in St. Christopher Catholic Church, Marysville.

Karen graduated from Marysville High School in 1962. She and her husband owned the Frame N Art Gallery in Marysville for many years. Karen loved being involved in the community. She was a member of Marysville Friends of the Arts and a founder of the Marysville Art in the Park. She also enjoyed volunteering with Women's Life Chapter #920. Karen was a woman of many hobbies and passions including crocheting special blankets and hats for her family, baking cookies with her grandkids, traveling and gambling, and attending the games and recitals of her beloved family. She especially enjoyed all the time spent at the rink watching four generations of family hockey players. Karen was a hard worker and took great pride in her loving marriage and large, beautiful family.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, John; four children, John (Tammy) Hartig, Tim (Amy) Hartig, Kathy (Chris) Jones and Leigh Anne (Nick) Deaner; nine grandchildren, John, Jake and Megan Hartig, Josh Kelly, Marleigh (Chad) Dell, Nick Hartig (Kendra Easton), Morgan (Wesley) Myers, Maison Deaner and Zach Hartig; eight great grandchildren, Greyson, C.J., Audrie, Penelope, Jack, Jade, James and Cole; brother, Ronald (Fely) Nurenberg; sister, Kay Stinson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister, Judy Lixey.

Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. on Monday, January 10, 2022 in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 in the Marysville Funeral Home. Pastor Elaine White will officiate. The livestream of the service may be viewed by visiting Karen's obituary on the funeral home website.

Inurnment will be in the Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville.
